HEADLINES : Johnathan Coachman Not Leaving WWE, Hulk Hogan's Weekend, More
Posted by Steve Carrier on 2008/5/12 2:00:00 (71 reads)

- TMZ has a story on Hulk Hogan eating at a Hooters restaurant in Tampa, Florida yesterday. Hogan ate with Brian Knobbs, Jimmy Hart and a few family friends. Linda and Brooke were not with him.

- Hulk Hogan's son Nick was the fifth most searched item on Yahoo yesterday, behind the Jenna Bush wedding and Mother's Day.

- Jonathan Coachman may not be leaving WWE after all, or at least not yet. Jim Ross posted a new blog on his website today and he's saying that Jonathan Coachman has not signed with ESPN, contrary to several online reports. Ross wrote: "Jonathan Coachman has not signed a contract with ESPN contrary to what may have been reported elsewhere. As I write this, Coach is still employed by the WWE and is still doing projects for the MSG Network. Will Coach eventually migrate to ESPN? Who knows, he would be a great fit there, but as of today he has not made any commitment to do so."

Dave Nagle, a representative of ESPN, issued the following statement to SLAM! Sports to put an end to the rumors: "all I can say is that these 'rumors' are untrue...we do not have a signed deal. There is nothing more to say." Rumors regarding Coachman's departure began soon after Mick Foley replaced Coachman as the SmackDown color commentator at the Backlash pay-per-view two weeks ago. Internet reports started circulating and they said that Coachman had signed a contract with ESPN for an anchor position.

HEADLINES : Former WWE Diva Joining TNA?, Diva Quietly Leaves the Company, More
Posted by Steve Carrier on 2008/5/11 22:36:33 (625 reads)

- Regarding Daizee Haze, TNA called and invited her to do the Impact show that aired on May 1, and she called Ring of Honor to make sure that it was OK. Haze is not under contract to ROH, and booker Gabe Sapolsky told her she could do whatever she wanted. Haze has not signed a contract with TNA and it is not known if she will be offered one. Haze is currently involved in a long-term storyline with Delirious in ROH that's supposed to last through at least the summer.

- SHIMMER promoter Dave Prazak, who posts on several wrestling message boards promoting the organization, made a post on Payton Banks' status with TNA after someone asked about her. Prazak wrote: "She hasn't been let go, but isn't booked for the current tapings." Banks hasn't been used since the Lockdown pay-per-view, and there were some reports going around noting that she appeared to be through with the company. Banks was not under contract to TNA, instead working on a nightly basis. Banks often appears as "Rain" at the SHIMMER shows.

- TNA was thinking about bringing in Tammy Sytch. There had been talk within TNA about using Sytch in a major role, but a few weeks ago, a few of their wrestlers did a wrestling convention with her, and came back with a negative report on the blonde bombshell. Due to the report on her, Sytch is no longer under consideration from TNA.

HEADLINES : What You Didn't See at the Sacrifice Pay-Per View

In order to fit the TerrorDome into the Inpact Zone, they have cut down on the size of The Pit.

Before the show started, they warmed up the crowd I'm the same way that they do for other TNA shows.

Dixie Carter walked around the Impact Zone with one of the tag title belts for people to take pictures.

Dave Penzer came out to the usual reception from the Impact Zone. He introduced So Cal Val and the two announce teams. Hector Guerrero is currently at the Spanish announce table even though he was asked by LAX to be in his corner.

Jeremy Borash came out to further warm up the crowd. He introduced Billy Corgan of Smashing Pumpkins.

HEADLINES : Kurt Angle Losing Weight, Knockout's Pole Match, New Marketing Officer
Posted by Steve Carrier on 2008/5/11 17:07:13 (548 reads)

People were raving about the Knockouts pole match that aired on iMPACT! this past week. Not so much the concept, but because the ladies performed really well in it.

TNA has hired Steve Allison as their Chief Marketing Officer. Allison was a major executive for Midway Games, but the company is not doing too well and he left his position. Midway Games lost $34 million during their fiscal first quarter of 2008.

Kurt Angle has been cutting down his weight in recent weeks. He's down to about 200 pounds now, instead of 215 or 220 legit. Angle's profile on the TNA website bills him at 250 pounds. Angle's on a major diet and has dropped several pounds since the start of April. No one knows why Angle is dropping the weight, but he's proud of it. As of late, he's been going around backstage asking people to guess how much weight he's lost. Also, TNA bills Angle as 6 feet flat, but he's actually 5 foot 10. Angle said so himself during his appearance on Pros vs. Joes a few months ago.
